Stories of Success that Bring .....

Angie and Frank's Story

A Full-Circle Moment We’ll Never Forget
Just the other day, one of our counselors experienced a moment that perfectly captures why we do what we do.
While waiting in the courthouse lobby, she glanced across the room and noticed a young woman who looked strangely familiar. The teenager was gently pushing an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair, a small stack of papers balanced carefully in her hand. After a brief pause, the young lady looked up, smiled brightly, and called out our counselor’s name.
As our counselor walked toward her, recognition set in — and so did amazement.
Three years ago, this young woman had first come to Four Winds Ministry Village for counseling. At the time, she was struggling deeply. Her behavior at home and at school was out of control. She had little respect for authority — or for herself. Her outward appearance reflected the turmoil within. Suspension loomed. State custody was becoming a real possibility.
She and her two younger siblings were being raised by their grandparents due to their parents’ battle with addiction. Her grandparents were exhausted and overwhelmed, unsure how much more they could endure.
But on this day in the courthouse lobby, the transformation was undeniable.
Now 17 years old and preparing to graduate high school this spring, she stood confident and composed. She shared that she had taken the skills she learned in counseling and truly applied them. She had made the choice to change her direction — and she did.
Life has not been easy. She explained that her grandmother has since passed away, and her grandfather — the man she was now carefully tending in the wheelchair — has been seriously ill. With quiet strength, she shared something remarkable:
She has stepped into the role of matriarch.
She is caring for her grandfather.
She is raising her younger siblings.
She is leading her family forward.
Our counselor left that courthouse overwhelmed with joy. Moments like this remind our entire team why perseverance matters. Why patience matters. Why hope matters.
This is what transformation looks like.
This is what your support helps make possible.
Because of you, young lives are not defined by their worst season. They are given tools, truth, guidance, and hope — and sometimes, years later, we get to witness the beautiful fruit of that investment.
